According to my AI overlords: "Mambo is a Cuban dance style and music genre that originated in the 1930s... a combination of Afro-Cuban rhythms and Son (? huh?) music... similar to the rumba and cha-cha. The word 'mambo' may come from the Congo region and may be related to voodoo priests who could put dancers into hypnotic states." THUS, your writing is rhythmic, moving, holy, and, at times, hypnotic.

Hi there! I too had cat-eyed 9cats-eye?) glasses as a girl. Thought they were sooo sophisticated. For a while. But that girl in the middle is giving you sideeye! Envying your gloves, perhaps?

Great newsletter, I chuckled several times and am now looking for my Girl Scout photo with my cats-eye glasses on! Thanks for the humor and the kind words, all of which can be spoken out loud.

Oh my gosh!!!! Early (and continued) cool girl in that pic. I think you are definitely still channeling that sass. (Even though you're not mean, like some *crazy* book reviewers:)

Congrats on being an IBPA award finalist! Yes, I had my mouth washed out with soap and wore my GS uniform every Wednesday (gloves on). But I liked the uniform and the sense of belonging. Very sorry about the HB library situation! Crazy!

I hated those glasses so much. I don't know why I didn't realize everyone else had them too. Now I think they look cool. Wish I'd known that then. That's Mary McTeagle giving me the stink eye and probably wondering why the heck I'm wearing gloves. Thanks for reading!
