I’ve worn glasses since I was 7 years old. Finally got contacts as a teenager then lasik surgery which was a miracle for twenty years until it wasn’t. Back in glasses again.
Just read Life with Riley and was delighted to learn about authors I didn't know. Here's one for you. Do you follow Karen Hill Anton on Substack? She's an American woman who has lived in Japan for decades and a published author. Check out The View from Breast Pocket Mountain, her memoire about settling in Japan and raising children there. She's my sister from another mother and I love her dearly. And can she write! Enjoy.
I love your message here. You make me think of the movie title (I haven't seen it yet) IS THIS THING ON. Sometimes you wonder, is anybody listening? Does it matter if they're not. I can promise that people are listening to you!
I have the same problem, needing distance glasses to see the crowd if I am reading.
Sounds like you are doing well, and best of luck finding a publisher for your new book!

Thanks for the best wishes.

That’s a great movie!
I think you know Jackie Mantz from the Inlandia workshop. She is having a book launch on April 18, so going to that instead of LA Times Book Festival.
Good plan. Some weekends there are too many options and some there are none.
Always the case!
